Betty Hanf has played flute and piccolo since her high school days in Chester. She enjoyed community bands, orchestras, and wind quintets, but has also dabbled in choral music. Her education include a BA in Chemistry from University of Pennsylvania and as MS in organic chemistry from University of Illinois in Urbana, plus several core courses in Information Science at Drexel University. Her career progressed from the lab (at Merck & Co. Inc.) to the Library/Information Center (at Polymer Corp. and Crompton & Knowles).
As a serious amateur musician, Betty still plays modern flute and piccolo, but also plays renaissance and baroque recorders, and renaissance double reeds, attending many Early Music workshops. She is currently a member of the Berks Senior Orchestra, the Angelica Consort, and The Five Winds.
