Christa began clarinet lessons in fourth grade and was an active Band member throughout her years in the Brandywine Heights school district, participating in Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Clarinet Choir.  She performed in the Berks County Junior and Senior Bands during grades 8-12 and also participated in the Berks Summer Band Institute annually since Middle School.  Upon her graduation from Brandywine Heights High School in June 2010, Christa received The “Semper Fidelis” Award for Musical Excellence

Christa’s additional instrumental music participation includes performing in the New Life Bible Fellowship Church orchestra, the pit orchestra for Antietam High School’s 2010 production of The Wizard of Oz, and the past season with the Reading Philharmonic Orchestra.  In Spring 2011, Christa joined The Five Winds, which also includes her dad, Tony Bernard.  In addition to being proficient on the clarinet, she also played the alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones over the years; however, her greatest passion remains the bass clarinet.

Christa is currently a full-time student at Reading Area Community College, pursuing an associate’s degree in Web Site Development, and has summer employment at Dorney Park in Allentown, PA.
